Neither copper benzoate nor copper acetate gave a good colour. Copper(I) chloride added to KClO3/Mg gave a blue flame, but it couldn't really be called "flash" any more. A bit less CuCl and a little copper powder instead gave a much better flash, and still nice blue light. It is not storage stable however.
